How do you make room for movement while sitting?

This design question is the starting point for Sit-i: a chair that allows you to change position while sitting.

Two Sit-i Dynamic Chairs

Room for movement

The narrow saddle leaves room for your legs. The Top Unit allows the seat to tilt and turn. The Penthapod® forms the flexible base that moves with you and supports the chair through five points of contact.

Developing through practice

Experiences from training, treatment and everyday work help us test and refine the design. The design question remains our starting point.

The developer

Saskia Heijkants is a physiotherapist, movement analyst and the developer of Sit-i. The design question grew out of her practice.
